Inspiration Sequin

We have a new challenge on the Art Impressions blog - "Inspiration Sequin", so we'd like to see a sequin or two on your cards!  I had a package of pastel sequins that I knew would work well with some Jillibean Soup papers that I have... so I pulled out the sweet Cupcake BFF Set to make my card:
I added some aqua stitching across the panels, and sprinkled a few sequins randomly on my card front:
Art Impressions stamps are not required to participate, but we do love to see them!  You should head on over to the Ai blog to see the inspiration from the rest of the Design Team, and you can link up your creation while you're there.  Happy Stamping!

A Little Behind

I am posting on the Art Impressions blog today!
I have two Shake Your Booty cards for you today, using the A Little Behind Set (Sku #4244):

I've used a pretty neutral palette today, with just a few subtle changes between the two:

And here is the inside, with the kitty's behind popped up on an Action Wobble, and the sentiment: "Always a little behind" - perfect for a belated birthday wish.

Copics used: W7, W5, W3, W1, W00, R20

Art Impressions at Michaels Blog Hop

The Art Impressions Design Team and some very special guests are having an amazing Blog Hop today to announce the launch of 5 brand new Ai sets that are being carried in Michaels Arts & Crafts stores! Be sure to scroll down through my post to see a list of all the hoppers today, as well as a link to FAQ's regarding the Michaels sets.  You should be arriving here from Tracy MacDonald's blog... and without further ado, here's my creation using SC0651 Ai His & Hers Campers:
The camper set is so much fun!!  There are four images and four sentiments - perfect for a retirement card or just a fun friendship card.  I've made a gift bag and matching tag for a retirement gift.  Here's a closeup of my tag that I coloured with Copic markers and tied with some tulle, twine & a button:
And here's a closeup of my gift bag.  Since I was using a plain kraft bag, I wanted to jazz it up a bit by adding strips of brightly patterned papers in varying lengths behind my image.  The sentiment reads: "Still young at heart... slightly older everywhere else"
Here's a picture of all five of the new stamp sets:

If you haven't seen all the posts along today's hop, head on over to the Art Impressions Blog which is the first stop on today's hop (you just might see a few more of my projects over there!!).  Your next stop is Angela Boutiller's blog - have a great day everyone!

Watercolour

I am posting on the Art Impressions blog today!
I have ventured into some watercolour artwork again... this time using WC Series 6 Set 2 - Sku#3498.  Both of the Series 6 sets depict a small town in the Engligh countryside, so I've used a couple of the images to create a small scene:
I've used combination of both Marvy & Tombow watercolour markers, initially colouring the stamp of the houses in a dark brown.  Then I used the markers directly on the paper to add colour to the houses and to create the scenery around them.  I went back in with a wet paintbrush to soften the colour and move it around.  Here's a closeup:
These are such great stamp sets to work with, since they give you the foundation image, and then the colouring & background details are all up to you.  Art Impressions has a huge inventory of Watercolour Series sets that you can find on the website, here!
Happy watercolouring, everyone!

It's Hip to be Square

We are hosting a square card challenge on the Art Impressions blog this week, so I have a 5 1/2" square card that I'll be giving my hubby for Father's Day.  He's known to be a bit of a couch napper once the Blue Jays or Maple Leafs are done for the night, so the Lazy Boy Set (Sku #4159) couldn't be more perfect:
I added a little zigzag stitching in blue thread, a couple of square studs and mounted the sentiment on a strip of cork.  Here's a closeup:

There is still a whole week left to join in our challenge, so be sure to link up your card here.  There are always fabulous prizes to be won!  Be sure to check out the Art Impressions blog to see what the rest of the design team has to share.  Have a great day :o)

Paige's Cupcake Bouquet

Remember when your children's school projects were making a cardboard castle, or a paper mache volcano?  Well when they're in a high school marketing class... they make a Cupcake Bouquet.  They had to create a product, make a website, packaging, logo, advertisements and a whole marketing plan.  If you've followed my blog for a while, you'll know that Paige has had a fairly successful cupcake business since she was 13, so it only goes to follow that she'd try something in the same line.  Here's what she assembled at 7am this morning:
Pretty awesome, huh?  I won't even tell you the fun we had transporting this to school in the rain!  I'll show you a few pictures of how we put it together, which are fairly self explanatory.  If you want to make one yourself, you'll find several tutorials on Youtube - and it actually went together pretty easily.

We took 3" squares of green tissue paper and poked it in between the cupcakes to hide the styrofoam ball:
Stay tuned to see more of what Paige was up to this year, her floral pillow for her fashion class was amazing.  Have a great day :o)

Giant Cake circle card

I am posting on the Art Impessions blog today!
I haven't made a circle card in a while, and I thought that the image I chose today would fit perfectly on one, so I have a girly birthday card to share, using Giant Cake Set (Sku #4382):

I used my Cricut to cut out the circles as well as a folded circle base, which made the assembly fairly quick and easy.  I zigzagged around the circle with pink thread and used some colourful buttons to pull out the colours from the image.

I forgot to take a picture of the inside sentiment... it says: "What's one more candle?  Make a wish!"
Copics: Skin - E11, E00, E000; Greens - G46, G43, G40; Pinks - R85, R83, R81; Reds - R24, R22, R20; Browns - E57, E55, E53, E51; Yellows - Y26, Y23, Y21; Blues - B24, B23, B21; Greys - W5, W3, W1.

Messy House

I am posting on the Art Impressions blog today!
I am using one of the newly-launched Try-fold stamp sets in a different way.  The Try-folds all come with three different images that fold over each other to make a truly unique card... but all of the images work perfectly well on their own, so here I've used the 'base' image from Messy House TF(Sku# 4452) along with the sentiment included in the set, to make a regular card:

Our current challenge is to make Operation Write Home cards, and you can link up your creation here.  We will have a brand new challenge for you starting on Thursday.
Copics used: Skin E11, E00, E000, R20
Hair and greys: W9, W7, W5, W3, W1
Greens: G43, G41, YG97, YG95, YG93, YG91
Reds: R59, R27, R24, R22, R20
Browns: E57, E55, E53, E51
Happy Stamping everyone!
(This is my second post for today, scroll down to see my OCS post!)

The Grillfather...

Happy Tuesday, everyone!  I have a square card to share today for One Crazy Stamper, using a stamp set from the Art Impressions line of stamps "Ai Heroes", called "Grillfather".  His pose cracks me up,  because it looks like he's about to have a sword fight with a hamburger!  This is the perfect card for my brother-in-law who really is The Grillfather.
Here's a close-up:

There are five Ai Heroes (Bug Buster, Backyard Boss, Weekend Warrior, Sexy Scrublord and Grillfather) - and you can find all of them in the OCS store here.  They are perfect as Father's Day cards, or just general guy birthday cards.
Don't forget to play along with our June challenge, which is Anything Goes with a splash: glitter and a ribbon - you can link up your card here.

One Crazy Stamper June Challenge

The One Crazy Stamper Design Team is sharing cards for our June Challenge today, which is "Anything Goes, with a splash, ribbon and glitter!"  This was a fun one for me - I am using Art Impressions "Stayin' Afloat (Sku#4254)", one of their fun Girlfriends images:
My "splash" is the water... my "ribbon" is a pretty piece of blue organdy that I had in my stash... and my "glitter" is both the little orange gems on the sentiment, and I also used a Wink of Stella clear pen on all the swimsuits, you just can't see it in the photo.  I picked up a few Memory Box stencils the last time that I was at the OCS store, and used "Modern Radio Waves" with some sponged yellow and orange inks to create my sunny sky background (this was fun! check out the stencil selection that Lora has in the store!)  Here is a close-up of the gals:
Wink of Stella Clear (It's on the swimsuits - really!!)
